So what is Rose Gold? Or even Pink or Red Gold?
Let's set one thing straight. There is only one type of gold that is mined, which is pure gold, which is of a yellow color with a slight orange (or even red) tint. All other colours of gold derive from this in different forms of alloys mixtures of metals.
Although there are slight variants of what you may call Rose Gold. There is in fact, Pink Gold, Rose Gold and Red Gold, graduating in more red or copper colour from Pink Gold to Red Gold.
All get their color from their addition of Copper in to their alloy, and some silver in the likes of Pink Gold hence why it is lighter.
So, in essence, Rose Gold (or variants) and White Gold are alloyed to make them appear rose or white in color.
Rose Gold is reported to have begun its life in Russia in the very early 19th Century, whilst becoming popular here in the early 1920's. It is almost 100 years later and it is at the height of fashion and at the peak of trends.
Another form you may see is Rose Gold Plated. This can either be on a base metal or a precious metal like Silver, giving the piece of jewellery its Rose finish. It is a plating process which binds to the surface of the given metal.
It is important to mention that we only offer precious metals for purchase, which can be rose or even gold plated. The precious metal being Sterling Silver. A small selection can be found clicking HERE
Our other offering is 9ct Rose Gold, which is the same quality as Yellow or White Gold.
These are examples of 9ct Rose Gold.
Enjoy.
